Ford’s $2 Billion Electric Dream: New EV Pickup Truck to Be Built in Louisville!

Ford is going full throttle into the electric future—and it’s starting right in Louisville.

Ford's $2 Billion Electric Dream

In a glitzy announcement dubbed a “Model-T Moment,” Ford revealed its bold new strategy to supercharge EV production in the U.S. The plan includes two major innovations: the Ford Universal EV Production System and the Ford Universal EV Platform, both designed to streamline how electric vehicles are built across the country.

🔋 What’s Coming? The first product of this new vision is a midsized, four-door electric pickup truck, set to roll off the assembly line at the Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) in 2027. It’s Ford’s answer to the growing demand for electric utility vehicles—and it’s bringing serious investment with it.

💰 Big Bucks, Big Jobs Ford is pumping $5 billion into this project, which includes building the truck and the batteries that will power it. The move will create nearly 4,000 jobs across two U.S. plants.

Louisville is getting the lion’s share of the action:

  • $1.9 billion of the total investment is going straight to LAP
  • That means 2,200 full-time jobs for the region

This isn’t just a new truck—it’s Ford’s electric revolution, and Louisville is driving it forward.
